In addition to having the Aboriginal Flag flown during this week, Mooroolbark College acknowledged National Reconciliation Week (NRW) with a visual display of the Reconciliation Timeline in the Library.  A video of the Reconciliation Timeline was also placed on the College’s Facebook page.

Teachers shared information about the two significant anniversaries of reconciliation in Australia being celebrated this year with their students in Home Group. Namely, 50 Year Anniversary of the 1967 Referendum and 25 Year Anniversary of the Mabo Decision. All Mooroolbark College staff and students were asked to be part of NRW: “What will your next step towards reconciliation be?”

Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, in the knowledge that we believe in fairness for everyone, that our diversity makes us richer, and that together, we are stronger.
