During the last week of Term 2, the College celebrated NAIDOC Week with several events taking place throughout the week. The focus of the Library display was an Indigenous Wall of Fame, 25 recommended Indigenous films and an introduction to the local Aboriginal language:Woiwurrung. Students participated during Home Group in an Indigenous Trivia Quiz with the winning team awarded RESPECT bands. At the General Assembly, Green House Captains, Daniel Miller and Tanikka Martin, spoke about this year’s NAIDOC Week theme: Our Languages Matter; ex-student, Maddison Laws, shared her story as a proud Yorta Yorta woman; Jesse Gardiner provided a memorable yidaki performance. During two lunchtimes the short film Who We Are: Brave New Clan, featuring six exceptional young Australians who share what Indigenous culture means to them today in contemporary urban Australia, was showcased in the Library.
