School Captain

School Captain

Captain Profile Questions - Jordan Daniels

School Captain

• What do you hope to achieve this year in your role?

‘Making a difference’ is a very overused phrase in the world, but that’s exactly what I aspire to do. If at the conclusion of my captaincy I know that I have touched the life of at least one student in a meaningful way, I know I have done my job. Taylah McCowan (the other half of our brilliant captaincy team) and myself share a passion for the mental wellbeing of others, and so together we aim to increase the school’s awareness to such an important issue and strive to care for the individual needs of all students as much as we can.

• Who is a leader you admire and why do you admire them?

I endeavour to have the persistence and generosity of Malala Yousaufzai, as well as the drive and compassion of Barack Obama. Both individuals persevered through circumstance and came out as well rounded, inspirational individuals: Malala through her fights against her country’s oppression, and Barack through his fight for Presidency and subsequently equality. Though I may not have such a large platform, I hope I can leave a mark of a similar dedication to my role in the College.

• What are some of your goals for the future?

After a brilliant 2019, I hope to eventually open my own counselling practice, publish a fiction novel and produce an album of some sort. Anything else that comes along the way is simply a bonus.

• Final sentence for readers.

“Our uniqueness, our individuality, and our life experience molds us into fascinating beings. I hope we can embrace that. I wish we may all challenge ourselves to delve into the deepest resources of our hearts to cultivate an atmosphere of understanding, acceptance, tolerance, and compassion. We are all in this life together.” Linda Thompson
