How to Enrol

Year 6 to Year 7 Transition

Government Primary School

The enrolment process begins in Term 2 of Year 6, when families receive a Year 6 – 7 Transition Information Pack from their primary school.

Students transitioning from a government primary school must enrol through their primary school and are not permitted to enrol directly with the government secondary school.

The pack includes an Application for Year 7 Placement form where families nominate their preferred Secondary School. Completed application forms must be returned to the respective primary school, who will submit all initial placement requests directly to the secondary school.

Primary Schools will notify families of Year 7 placement outcomes as specified within the statewide timeline.

Non-Government Primary School

Families of students attending a non-government primary school may approach secondary schools directly if their child’s primary school is not supporting the statewide placement process.

Families must still use the Application for Year 7 Placement available in the parent/carer pack and email it directly to transition@mooroolbarkcollege.vic.edu.au.  Mooroolbark College will notify non-government families of placement outcomes as specified within the statewide timeline.

The parent/carer transition information pack for transition from a non-government school will be available for download from the Department website in Term 2.

Further information about applying for a Year 7 placement, key dates and school zones can be found on the Department website – Moving from Primary to Secondary School link below.

Students wishing to enrol in the Aspire Program are required to submit an additional application form. Testing for the program occurs in September/October.
