On 26 November 2015, the Victorian Parliament passed the Child Wellbeing and Safety Amendment (Child Safe Standards) Bill to introduce seven child safe stands into law.  The standards apply to all organisations, including schools, involved in child-related work in Victoria.  As members of a community, we all have a moral obligation to protect any child under our care and supervision from foreseeable harm.  As a College, we are mandated to: 1. Develop strategies to embed a culture of child safety at the school; 2. Allocate roles and responsibilities for achieving the strategies; 3. Inform the school community about the strategies, and allocated roles and responsibilities; 4. Put the strategies into practice 5. Periodically review the effectiveness of the strategies.

Over the next few newsletters, I will be writing about what Mooroolbark already has in place to support students at Mooroolbark College and what we will be implementing in the future.   For more information go to : http://www.education.vic.gov.au/school/principals/ health/Pages/childsafe.aspx.
