This has been an extremely busy fortnight for Mooroolbark College, starting with the Production last week.  What an amazing success it was, showcasing the talents of 90 of our students from Year 7 to Year 12.  Thank you to Christian Standing and Peter Marz directing the production, Jordan Van Keulen, Janet Whitby and Ross Crowley for working with our music students to put together an outstanding band, Sarah Rosendale for her chorography  and David Innes for his production.  Particular thank you to the Parents, Teachers, Citizens Association for their support running a kiosk each night.
This week we have had an activity on everyone day, starting on Monday with our Year 12 students taking part in workshops  to hone in those last minute skills to do their best in their exams.  The sun shone for our annual SRC Carnival Day.  Thank you to Robyn Cooper and the SRC team for putting together a great event for our College.  Some of the highlights for me included the staff student band with Jev Telford, Jordan Van Keulen, Ross Crowley, Daniel Lee and Iris Kennedy performing in the northern quadrangle, the teacher dunking competition on the oval, paper plane competition in the common room and the large number of past students who returned to help out.
Thank you to the our parents/guardians who attended the Parent/Teacher Interviews on Wednesday.  It was great to see so many students in attendance as well.  Parent/Teacher interviews are definitely a great opportunity to discuss the teaching learning outcomes for our students.  In addition, on Wednesday we had 100 Year 12 students sit their practice VCE English Exam in the morning.  Preparing for their final exams should be well underway.  The remainder of the practice exams are scheduled for the first week of the school holidays.
On Thursday we also welcomed Cr Maria McCarthy from the Shire of the Yarra Ranges to the school as “Principal for the Day”.  She spent the morning in classes, meeting with our student leaders and taking part in our Mock Interviews with the College’s Year 10 students.
The Year 10 Mock Interview program is an annual experience which runs as part of the Crossroads program.  We were fortunate to have a range of community members volunteer their time to assist including members from the Mooroolbark Probis Club, Pre-Service Teachers and local business owners to take part in the program as interviewers.  Thank you to Christopher Seabrook for his organisation of this event.  This is a wonderful opportunity for our Year 10 students to experience an employment interview and receive feedback.
Today our students attended the Maroondah Division Athletics at the Ringwood Athletics Track.  Despite the weather the students competed competitively and had a wonderful day.
